Do you feel overwhelmed getting ready for your big move? There is a lot to do and many tasks that demand your attention. Trying to sort through long distance moving quotes and find the right long distance moving company probably isn’t the thing that you want to spend all your time doing. But, it’s part of the process and choosing the right company can make a big difference in how smoothly your transition goes. If you are preparing for an interstate move, Abbey Moving Company wants to make it easy for you.
What is interstate moving?
When you prepare for your move there are two different terms that you will hear: interstate and intrastate. While there is only a slight difference in the words it holds a big difference. Intrastate moving is when you are moving within the same state and you will not cross any state lines during your move.
Knowing that information it’s easy to assume that interstate moving means you are moving to another state, such as cross country moving. While it is true that moving to a new state is interstate moving there is more to it than that. You can actually move within the same state and have your move considered interstate moving if at any point your moving truck is crossing state lines to get you to your final destination. For example, in some parts of California, it might be faster to get to your end destination by driving into and back out of Nevada. So, even though you start and end your move in California it is considered an interstate move because you have crossed over state lines in the process.
When you cross state lines during a move there are different requirements that moving companies will be required to meet. Your moving company could need different permits or insurance limits that allow them to make take your belongings through another state.
How much does it cost?
Looking for long distance moving quotes can be overwhelming. There are a lot of factors that go into determining the costs. For example, cross country moving is going to have a different cost than if you are only moving to the next state over. But, the distance of your move isn’t the only thing that will impact the cost of your move. The following factors also play a role in your pricing:
- The volume of belongings that you are bringing with you
- If you are packing up your belongings or if you want Abbey Moving Company to handle it for you
- If moving your items will involve elevators, stairs, long carries, or shuttle services
